Scientist recently discovered radiation waves are being transmitted through cellphones. On the internet there are multiple videos about radiation being used to pop popcorn kernels. Scientist believe that radiation is harmful. Some believe it may cause cancer. While others believe that it would effect a child behavior after birth.

The recent studies and debates have made to prove one simple fact again and again that higher the growth in technology, greater is its harmful effects. A well known and widely used example is the cell phones. It seems that besides the extreme benefits of cell phones, they have a simultaneous or parallel link that is directly proportional to harmful effects too. It is a quite natural truth that the cell phone companies are never going to accept the flaws of their side. There are still harsh debates going on between the two sides. Over the two years of time continuous experiments are ongoing to reveal the shocking truths about the radiation hazards of cell phone radiations to the world. One of the basic ideas that cause extreme danger to the biological system is that actually these cell phones operate on amplitude modulated signals.

The effect mobile phone radiation has on human health is the subject of recent interest and study, as a result of the enormous increase in mobile phone usage throughout the world as of June 2009, there were more than 4.3 billion users worldwide. Mobile phones use electromagnetic radiation in the microwave range, which some believe may be harmful to human health. A large body of research exists,both epidemiological and experimental, Many scientific studies have investigated possible health effects of mobile phone radiation. These studies are occasionally reviewed by some scientific committees to assess overall risks in non-human animals and in humans, that shows overall no evidence for harmful effects. One well-understood effect of microwave radiation is dielectric heating, in which any dielectric material in example ;such as living tissue is heated by rotations of polar molecules induced by the electromagnetic field. In the case of a person using a cell phone, most of the heating effect will occur at the surface of the head, causing its temperature to increase by a fraction of a degree. In this case, the level of temperature increase is an order of magnitude less than that obtained during the exposure of the head to direct sunlight.

Among the most stunning new findings is evidence that can cause birth defects in mice embryos from cell phone radiation. Researchers at the University of Athens looked at fatal development and studied pregnant mice exposed to smart phones. And they looked at the offspring of the mice and they found basic defects in their brain structure and skeleton, ABC News quoted Davis as saying.In one study, they showed significant damage in the exposed mice embryos. And they showed, for example, mice normally have 13 pairs of ribs and the exposed mice sometimes had less or their cartilage was ossified, meaning it was kind of fused. And they showed other defects in the skeleton and head bone that were associated with the radiation from the smart phone to 3G smart phones.

The first large scale study to look at the connection between mobile phone use in pregnancy and later behavioral problems in children has overwhelmingly come back with a finding that such phone use places undeveloped babies at risk. Researchers from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and the University of Aarhus, Denmark surveyed 13,519 women who had given birth in Denmark in the late 1990s about their mobile phone use habits while pregnant, and their kids use of the phones up until the age of seven. Due to the fact that cell phone use was less widespread a decade ago, about half of the women in the study had not used the phones while pregnant, or used them only infrequently.Women who used handsets at least two or three times per day while pregnant were 54 percent more likely to give birth to children who developed behavioral problems by the time they reached school age than women who did not use them. The risk of behavioral problems increased along with the mother's mobile phone use during pregnancy.

This has made me more aware about the usage of cellphones and the amount of radiation being transmitted. I wasn't aware how dangerous scientist say it is. Majority of people use their phones all day and night without knowing the total of damage they're doing to themselves. But yet I still have a second opinion about radiation and cellphones. It may not be true as the scientist say it is. Cause if it was, why didn't they make a commercial or another type of health awareness broadcast about it? If they really wanted to show how concern they are, they should've done a commercial by now.
